Volunteer

“I work as a noontime relief cashier. Not only do I enjoy the people I work with, but I love visiting and helping our customers. I continually hear “oh hi Mrs. Corbin” from my former Anacortes High School students. I think most of them are surprised I am still alive. My mother helped with the start of the “Mouse House” so I feel a special connection.”
– Charlene C.

“My time helping out at the Red Door is always interesting! The expertise of the management and long-term volunteers has created the best mix of items I have seen at a thrift shop. When I first started, I immediately felt included in everything going on…..there is always laughter and collaboration!”
– Laurie T.

“The Red Door Thrift Shop processes many small-dollar sales thanks to volunteers who’ve offered small amounts of expert time each week to sort, price, and stock the donations we receive. The amazing result of adding cast-off possessions and our many small, weekly volunteer shifts is huge for our community partners, recently producing a $30,000 donation for infant-care in Anacortes. We often don’t see the results of our individual efforts, but The Red Door gathers our modest contributions and magnifies them into meaningful benefit for those in need.”
