The Red Door Thrift Shop is an outreach ministry of Christ Episcopal Church. The mission of The Red Door is to provide quality used household goods and clothing at a great value and in doing so protecting the environment through reuse and recycling. The Red Door strives to provide a friendly and supportive place where customers and volunteers can gather while generating revenue to support the community both financially and through in kind donations. Volunteers from all faith backgrounds come from Anacortes, Skagit County, and the surrounding islands to donate their time in various roles including receiving donations, preparing items for sale, cashiering and creating window displays, as well as many offsite tasks like researching unique items, measuring and pricing linen and fabric donations and creating item descriptions for online sales.

All the profits generated by The Red Door go directly back into the community. Funds are distributed to various organizations in Anacortes, Skagit County and around the world, concentrating on sheltering the homeless, feeding the hungry, caring for the elderly, nurturing families and children and welcoming foreigners. You can see the agencies we support on our Outreach page.

It’s hard to believe The Red Door initially started as a response to the church’s difficulty in meeting its financial obligations and has become extremely successful, making such a positive impact on the community.
